Does ZERO offer sponsorships or donations for charity events?
Our marketing team are happy to receive all enquiries regarding sponsorships or donations. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we will support all requests as we already do work with a select number of carefully selected charities throughout the year. Does your Face Scrub cause micro-tears?
When over- or incorrectly used, all exfoliants have the potential to irritate or damage your skin. It is important to note that you should never use a physical scrub, even a gentle formula like the ZERO Face Scrub, on broken or irritated skin. Always listen to your skin.
When developing the ZERO Facial Scrub, our product development team considered the needs of those with more sensitive skin. A physical scrub should also only remove the outer layer of dead skin cells and nothing else. The grade (fineness) of the ground apricot powder has been specifically designed to almost blend into our ZERO Face Scrub formula. Upon application, the scrub gel actually feels refreshing and effective rather than harsh, irritating or abrasive.
Although our Face Scrub is gentle enough that it could be used daily, we would never recommend that this is suitable to do for all skin types.
Do you recommend using sun cream with the Day Cream?
We always recommend using sun protection for your skin when you will be spending time outdoors. The ZERO Day Cream does not currently contain active ingredients to protect the skin against the sun.
Are your products suitable for dry skin?
Absolutely! The purposeful, plant-derived active ingredients that form the backbone of the ZERO range, notably Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sacha Inchi Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil, deliver a powerful combination of well-known nourishing and moisturising benefits across the range. Shea Butter delivers intense moisturising effects to nourish and condition the skin; Sweet Almond Oil is an excellent emollient that is deeply hydrating and helps lock in moisture; Sacha Inchi Seed Oil offers long-lasting hydration benefits; and Coconut Oil helps keep skin supple and soft. ZERO cleansers are also not drying and won’t strip skin of natural oils.
Are ZERO products paraben free?
Yes, we take pride in using only the best natural ingredients in our products. Anything synthetic or with the potential to cause harm to ourselves, animals or the environment is a no-go. Our products have:

Do you use preservatives?
Yes, we use a 100% natural preservative system for ZERO skincare products. Water-based formulations require preservatives to prevent bacterial growth. The natural preservative system we use in ZERO is called Dermosoft ® 1388 Eco. It is a blend of plant-derived – Basil, Star Anise, Sugarcane and Rapeseed – organic acids. No harsh chemical or synthetic preservatives are used or will ever be used in a ZERO skincare product.
What are the key active ingredients in ZERO skincare products?
Purposeful, sustainably sourced plant-derived ingredients are the backbone of the ZERO range, notably Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sacha Inchi Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil, delivering a powerful combination of well-known nourishing and moisturizing benefits across the range. Additionally, Green Tea extract gives a rejuvenating boost to the night cream formula while ground apricot seeds in the facial scrub create a gentle exfoliation effect.

Are ZERO products fragrance free?
ZERO skincare products are naturally fragranced with sustainably sourced, plant-derived ingredients, notably Sweet Orange, Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Geranium and Jasmine oils. ZERO products are naturally fragranced to enhance the consumer’s experience when using our skincare products.
Is Sacha Inchi Oil a nut? Should I avoid if I have a nut allergy?
Although it’s called the Inca Peanut, Sacha Inchi is an allergy-free seed. Even if you have a peanut allergy, you could consume this because it is a seed. It is not the same species as our common peanut and therefore does not have the same allergens.
Can I use your products if I am allergic to nuts?
Sweet Almond Oil is one of the key ingredients across the ZERO skincare range. We would recommend that if you have a tree nut allergy, you should consult your doctor first before using any of the ZERO products.
Are your products made in the UK?
We are proud to say that ZERO is 100% British-based and all of our skincare products and packaging are designed and developed in the UK.
How is ZERO able to claim 100% natural ingredients while other ‘natural’ skincare brands claim 97-98%?
In addition to using certified 100% natural, plant-based active ingredients in its skincare products, the ZERO range also uses plant-derived preservatives and is naturally fragranced with a blend of Sweet Orange, Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Geranium and Jasmine oils.
Some of your product labels look different, why is that?
ZERO has strengthened and improved its packaging over the short time the products have been available to customers. We are now stocked in different countries across the globe, like Canada and Chile. To ensure we appeal to the mass market in various locations, we adapt our packaging to encompass the native language of each country. This is why some of our packaging may look slightly different, but the product never changes. Can I export your products overseas and how do I go about this?
We receive many export enquiries each week, so we require that you first make contact via email with full details of your distribution company, capabilities and proposal. Providing more information will be beneficial to your request. Please note that only successful enquiries will receive a response and no time frame can be guaranteed. How can I work out the expiry date of my product?
All ZERO products are safe to use for a period of 6 months after opening.
Is your packaging recyclable? What does ‘sustainable packaging’ claim mean?
All ZERO products are sustainably packaged and fully recyclable:
- ZERO product cartons are fully recyclable and made from sustainably sourced 15% recycled card, with a pledge to use 100% recycled card by 2021
- ZERO tubes are fully recyclable and made from sustainably sourced sugarcane ethanol – each tube features the I’m greenTM Polyethylene seal, guaranteeing its bio-based composition
- ZERO bamboo lids are sustainably sourced and compostable
- ZERO thread inserts and shives are made from PCR plastic and can be recycled
- ZERO glass jars are fully recyclable and reusable

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Each ZERO skincare product has been designed to be as kind as possible to all types of skins. All ZERO products have been dermatologically tested* and passed. (*European Cosmetic and Perfume Association- COLIPA standard).
Do your products contain palm oil? Why not use an alternative?
When sourcing ingredients for ZERO products, sustainability is one of our non-negotiables. This is especially relevant to palm oil, and is why we only use a certified supplier who meets the strict standards set by RSPO (The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil – the world’s largest palm oil certification scheme), that guarantee it has been grown responsibly and sustainably, with zero harm to animal or human habitats.
Removing palm oil all together is not the solution. There is a misconception that the social and environmental concerns around palm oil can be addressed if companies simply stop using palm oil in their products and replace it with other types of oil. However, there are a number of reasons why this is not as easy as it sounds:
- By eliminating palm oil from the equation, demand would shift to other vegetable oils. This would increase sustainability problems because compared to other crops, like sunflower or rapeseed, oil palms produce by far the most vegetable oil per hectare of land (4-10 times more), so switching to other vegetable oils may very well result in more primary forests being converted into agricultural land, not less.
- In producing countries, millions of farmers and their families work in the palm oil sector. Palm oil plays an important role in the reduction of poverty in these areas. In Indonesia and Malaysia, a total of 4.5 million people earn their living from palm oil production. Stopping the production of palm oil would mean these people may no longer be able to support their families.
This is confirmed also by a WWF Germany report, “Searching for alternatives”. According to the report “the one-to-one substitution of palm oil with other tropical plant oils would not meet the desired objectives. Soya and coconut oil grow in similar or ecologically similarly sensitive regions, and therefore the replacement of one oil for another would not solve the problem but only shift it elsewhere and, in part, even exacerbate it. More land would be required, more greenhouse gas emissions would be generated, and more species would be endangered.”
Do your products contain micro beads?
No, we have never and will never use micro beads in our products. We will always use natures alternative such as finely ground Apricot seeds and kernels because finding natural and sustainable alternatives for our skincare products is our mission.

Are your ZERO products natural?
We believe that everything you need to take care of your skin can be found in nature. This is why all of our formulations are 100% natural. Each ZERO formulations is certified as being 100% derived from a natural source by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
Are ZERO products vegan friendly?
Yes, all of our ZERO products are vegan friendly. ZERO is a 100% vegan brand. And, because we love our animal friends, we are committed to never using any animal by-products or ingredients, including lanolin, honey and beeswax.
What is ZERO’s policy on animal testing?
ZERO by Skin Academy is a vegan friendly and animal kind brand. No ZERO products or individual ingredients are tested on animals.
Thankfully, it is now against the law in Europe for any beauty products to be tested on animals. As a European beauty brand, we naturally comply with the Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 and can proudly confirm we are and will always be cruelty free. We have also made the choice to never directly sell our products into any country that requires animal testing to be undertaken as part of the requirements to be able to sell there.
